John Meagher’s interest in Boat Building started in 1965 while still in his teens when he learned the art of building Clinker Lake Boats at night classes. A keen angler from his childhood - in particular fly fishing where he represented Ireland on four occasions and winning the Brown Bowl in 1998. From his years of experience in Boat Building and expertise in Fly Fishing, in 2003 John Meagher recognised the need to design a boat with the Fly Angler in mind and designed “Meagher Lake Boats” which have proved to be an outstanding success by all who have purchased them over the years. These Boats are designed to drift very slowly and are known to be very easy to handle in all weather conditions - just what the typical anglers requires. The heavy gauge of fibre glass used in their construction makes these boats very stable, adds to there overall safety and allows them to take up to 15hp Outboard Motor. All material used in their construction are Lloyds approved and CE certified. The upper deck is fitted out with teak to the highest standard of craftsmanship- the gunnels, transom board, elbows and breast hook are glued and fastened with stainless steel screws throughout - all screws are countersunk.Meagher Lake Boats are on every lake shore in Ireland, and on some Lakes in Scotland and England. Part exchange accepted on all makes of fibreglass lake boats. Inspection of boats at construction stage and on-lake demonstration is available at any time.
